Life
This is not an easy life. Nobody said it would be. There are so many do’s and don’ts and people swear by them and hold them second to civil law. So many pressures that we really shouldn’t be putting on others but still we do. Believing we are helping out and that we are gathering ajr for it. We are so scared of falling into that black pit of Hell, that in the process of rescuing ourselves, we are actually not helping others up. We are pushing them down.
God speaks to the believing men and women. Not to the Muslim women and men. There is no “Muslim soul” and as stated in the Last Sermon of Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be with him): “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.”
Our actions and our piety outweigh our heritage and skin color. The person you ARE behind the labels and clothes means more to God/Allah/G-d than anything else you can serve up to anyone, in this world or in the Hereafter.
So act with dignity. Live gracefully and compassionately. Value yourself. Because whatever you do, is what others will give you. I know it’s a cliché but it’s true. Wash away the lies and the masks you wear, and be the person you are. And then carry yourself like a precious jewel or priceless manuscript. Because that is the essence of your soul, of whom you really are.
